AssetTrader Buying Guide to Cranes
Introduction
One of the most useful and specific heavy engineering machinery on the market, is the crane. Essentially it is a lifting device that’s used to haul bulky, heavy objects to a height or horizontally. Cranes use a winder device that with ropes and sheaves is used to lift or lower materials. Mostly used in construction, they can be seen in the transport industry and freight industry.
AssetTrader has put together a guide to determine what questions you should ask a dealership and types of cranes should be best utilized.
Functionality and Use
Nearly all construction projects big and small depend on the function of the crane. No other piece of construction equipment meets such a high demand and specific job.
The most important thing to note, is that in order for cranes to be completely stable, the net of all moments which meet at the hinge point or fulcram must be equal 0.
This relates to the industry in that the value is less than that which could cause the crane to tip, normally 75% to tipping weight. Cranes that are supported by outriggers this is then increased to 85%.
