Potain cranes have been a leader in crane innovation since 1928 and they did justice to their legacy with the MDT 268. As far as construction projects go this has to be top of the list in terms of the most sensitive and highly technical renovation project any big construction management team has come across. The stats are an old Italian castle needing reconstruction work built on the highest pinnacle of the mountain region of Emilia Romagna that happens to sit in an earthquake zone. Liebherr Crane manufacturers announced their win in the prestigious transport award category at the IF (International Forum) product design award in 2008. The IF product design awards in Hanover draws international recognition for its 14 different categories some of those categorie like communication, transport, product, packaging, material and concept have gained world wide prestige for the award winners for the last 50 years that the award has been given. Tadano crane manufacturer has announced they will be focusing on truck loader cranes and platforms over the next three years in their strategic business plan. The plan which will be announced in April will focus on these categories till 31st March 2011. The new focus will be underlined with a new business domain, LE, Lifting Equipment which was announced at this years, ConExpo by chief executive officer Koichi Tadano to Cranes Today. Tadano cranes reported high growth in their year-on-year records in the first half of 2007/2008 but also showed a slightly lower growth rate than in 2006/07. Profit in sales showed an increase of 19.3% to JPY 81,807 million compared to JPY 68,544 million in September 2006 when the growth rate was 22.6% in comparison. Tadano crane company released a statement with their report for the April to September 2007 interim figures. Hybrid Excavators Emerging On To The Market 07/03/2008
Since last year several different excavator manufacturers have introduced various versions of hybrid excavators. Komatsu launched their hybrid hydraulic excavator in Japan and overseas last November which went on the market for a cool $99,000, roughly 20% higher than the current model in that category. The midsize excavator has an electric motor and diesel engine and uses 30% less diesel than the current model. Komatsu the worlds second largest maker of construction machinery had planned to sell a total of 1,500 vehicles in Japan and overseas by the year 2010.
